Mousetrap Car Project

Remember your cars must be in class with you on either Monday or Tuesday, depending on which class you are in.
If you have any design questions please make a comment. For instance Ashley wrote to me and asked if the mousetrap had to be snapped at the starting line or if she could simply release her car. Holding and releasing the arm of the trap is perfectly acceptable.
Good luck to all of you!

Ms O'Neil, I don't konw what's wrong with my car. It can just move a little bit distance, less than 2 meters. Do you think I should change my "wheels" Or other things? When I did yestoday, it could move.

As you now know...no you can't.

Xue,
You can cahnge the wheels if you think that is the problem. But consider if the car has enough weight, or traction. We will talk more in class.

The Mouse Trap Car Project

I thought this project was fun, creative, challenging and frustrating. The fun part was designing the car although when I was finish designing my car it had "designing flaws all over it". However, this weekend I will redesign it to show you.
The creative part was to find the material to build my car.
The challenging part was figuring out a design to include my mouse trap.
The frustrating part was when I brought it to school and I dismantled it and I didn't know how to put it back together again. Oh my Gosh!!!
Have a nice weekend, Ms. O'Neill.

this project was the best so far, i had fun and put alot of work into it and came out pretty successful at the end. i would definetly do it over again, it wasnt something that you can just do , you had to put time and work into it, and i like that, it also a challenge, thats one of the reasons why i liked it

ZABI!

When should we use g=9.81m/s2?
When should we use g=10m/s2?

Ms.ONeill said...

Hi Xue,
You should use 9.81 m/s2 becaus3e that is what the measurement of gravitaional acceleration actually is. We use 10m/s2 to do quick calculaions in class.
